AE25225 Introduction to CFD “Introduction to CFD” is a 3rd/4th year undergraduate course focused on a brief introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The goal of the course is (i) to give an overview of the numerical methods that are used to simulate fluid dynamics with digital computers, and (ii) to use such methods to solve some problems of interest in aerospace engineering. We'll see how to recast the fluid equations in generalized curvilinear coordinates, how to measure numerical error using Richardson extrapolation, and how to craft some high resolution and high order flux discretization schemes for the Euler equations of fluid dynamics. Some of the assignments will involve using a CFD code to obtain results.
